Voluntary Life Insurance and AD&D
To supplement the basic life insurance coverage that the School provides, you may choose to enroll in a Voluntary Life Insurance Plan for additional coverage at competitive prices. Coverage for dependents is only available if employee supplemental life is elected.
You: You can purchase additional life and AD&D coverage from $10,000 to $500,000 in $1,000 increments, up to 5 times your earnings. You can qualify for up to $200,00 of coverage with no medical underwriting. The total amount of coverage between the base and additional amounts may not exceed $500,000.
Your Spouse: You can purchase additional Life and Ad&D coverage for your spouse from $1,000 to $500,000 in $1,000 increments. YOu must purchase coverage for yourself in order to purchase coverage for your spouse. Spouse coverage must not exceed 100% of the coverage amount you purchase for yourself. Your spouse can get up to $30,000 with no medical underwriting, if eligible.
Your Children: You can purchase additional Life and AD&D coverage for your children in the amount of $10,000, if eligible. One policy covers all of your children until their birthday, or until their birthday if they are full-time students.
Elections and coverage on the Voluntary Benefits are effective the 1st of the month following the date of election. If the date of hire or eligibility falls on the first of the month, there is no waiting period.
